Is there such a thing, Islamic clothes?
Usually, in our minds we consider Islamic clothing for women, wearing Abaya and a headscarf must be a Muslim woman. For men, wearing a cap/turban, long Arabian Jilbab, or a Pakistani salwar kameez is considered to be a Muslim Man. It is true that clothes define us and make a statement about who we are! A doctor wears a white coat, a policeman wears a specific type of dress. But, we need to check is there any specific Islamic clothing? Let’s have a brief view.
The beauty of Islamic clothing for Muslims Around the world:
Islam doesn’t give us a specific clothing that is Islamic clothing, Allah (SWT) gave us specific guidelines and principles that need to be fulfilled which is considered as Islamic clothing so, Wearing any type of clothing one must check if this cloth/dress fit the Islamic guidelines whatever country he/she belongs to will be an Islamic dress. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself wore clothes from different cultures, I.e., Yamani cloak and sometimes things imported from great Syria and Egypt.
Basic Guidelines for Islamic dress:
Here we will discuss the Basic Islamic guidelines of wearing clothes.
Fulfilling, Purpose of Clothing:
Allah (SWT) says in the Quran: يَا بَنِي آدَمَ قَدْ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ لِبَاسًا يُوَارِي سَوْآتِكُمْ وَرِيشًا ۖ وَلِبَاسُ التَّقْوَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ - 7:26 O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember. In this verse Allah (SWT) addresses the whole humanity emphasizing whole humanity to cover themselves properly.
Wearing Halal and permissible clothing:
The cloth that is to be worn must be halal and permissible, except for that concerning which there is a text to state that it is haraam, such as silk for males because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “These two [gold and silk] are forbidden for the males of my ummah and permissible for the females.”(Ibn Maajah, 3640)
Making adequate coverage:
We cannot determine what is adequate coverage on our own, we need to look at Islamic teachings for an adequate covering; For men, it is the middle part of the body from navel to knee. For women, it is the entire body except for hands and face. These parts must never be exposed to any other person (except in case of genuine need e.g. medical treatment). The cloth must be neither see-through nor tight fitting.
Our dress should establish our Islamic identity. At the least, it should not identify us as followers of another religion. It is not permissible to wear clothes that are unique to kuffar. Once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw ‘Ali wearing two garments dyed with safflower and said: “These are garments of the kuffaar; do not wear them.”(Muslim, 2077)
Avoid these Deadly sins related to clothing:
The design of our dress must avoid three deadly sins: Show off Arrogance Self-indulgence. As Narrated in Hadith: "Eat what you feel like and wear what you feel like. But avoid two things: extravagance and arrogance." [Bukhari].
Cloth difference of both genders:
It is haram for women to imitate men and men to imitate women in the way they dress because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the men who imitate women and the women who imitate men. (Bukhaari, 5546).
It is Mustahib to wear White clothes. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Wear white clothes, for they are the best of your clothes.” (Tirmidhi: 994)
Hanging garment down ankles:
It is haram for the Muslim man to let any garment he wears hang down beneath his ankles as the limit for any garment is the ankles. It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said; “Whatever of the lower garment is beneath the ankles is in the Fire.”(Bukhaari, 5450).
Avoid garments of fame and vanity:
Garments of fame and vanity mean a garment that stands out from others so that people will look at the wearer and he will become known for it. Ibn ‘Umar said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever wears a garment of fame and vanity, Allah will dress him in a garment like it on the Day of Resurrection.” According to another version, “…then set it ablaze.” And according to a third version, “will dress him in a garment of humiliation.” ( Abu Dawood, 4029; Ibn Maajah, 3606, 3607; classed as Hasan by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 2089.) May Allah give us taufeeq to fulfill these guidelines He has given to us. Ameen!
The rise of digital Commerce
The rise of digital commerce and fall of physical stores.
Digital buying and selling first found its place in the 1980s. With improvement in technology and now the wider use of the internet, digital commerce has spread excessively. Almost everyone in the world has at some point bought or even sold something online, be it clothing or electronics, now we can also see an increase in the trading of digital products, e-tickets, e-books, etc. Having an online store is almost a must. In this blog we will discuss the various advantages in why.
Online allows for ones costs to be a lot lower, imagine no need to pay for a physical storefront and respectively it’s employees to help manage it. Selling on the internet gives access to a whole new range of customers, all over the world, and there does not need to be any opening or closing hours. You are not limited by space, and can offer much more than usual. Judging by the financial aspects, online selling has clearly won. The demographic advantages play a major role in sales, from only being able to reach people in a local village area to billions around the world.
Anyone who refuses to adopt this will most likely suffer from a very dramatic experience.
